What we collect, why we collect it, and what we never do with it. Plain words about the information you share with the Vault.
Last updated: August 14, 2026
Who we are
Veil Vault ("we", "our", "the Vault") operates a marketplace for pre-loved formalwear — wedding dresses, prom and pageant gowns, evening wear, suits, and accessories — connecting independent buyers and sellers. This policy explains how we handle information when you visit the site, browse the collection, create an account, message another user, list a piece, place an order, or write to us.
What we collect
We collect only the information the marketplace needs to work, and we collect it directly from you or from your use of the site:
- Account information — your name, email address, and a securely stored password, plus anything you choose to add to your public profile (such as a bio or a photo of your closet).
- Listing information — the photos, descriptions, measurements, condition, story, and price you provide when you list a piece for sale.
- Buying and browsing activity — the orders you place, your favorites, your searches, and the listings you view.
- Messages — the contents of buyer–seller conversations held through the site.
- Technical data — browser type and version, device type, IP address, pages visited, and referring sites, collected through cookies and similar technologies as described below.
What we don't collect
We do not collect payment card numbers or bank account details. If and when online payment processing is introduced, those details will be handled by our third-party payment provider, and we will not store them on our servers.
How we use your information
Everything we collect is used to run the marketplace and keep it safe. In particular, we use your information to:
- Operate the marketplace — display your listings to buyers, deliver messages, record orders, and manage favorites and searches.
- Keep the Vault honest — monitor listings and remove any that violate our standards (real photos, honest condition, real pieces), and respond to reports.
- Communicate with you — confirm orders, answer your questions, and send you updates that matter to your account.
- Improve the site — understand aggregate usage so we can fix problems and make browsing, selling, and buying better.
- Keep the Vault safe — detect fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service, and respond to reports.
- Comply with the law — where we have a legal obligation to retain or disclose information.
Cookies & analytics
We use cookies — small files stored in your browser — to keep you signed in, to remember your favorites, and to understand how the site is used in aggregate so we can improve it. Some cookies are essential: without them, features like staying signed in wouldn't work. Others support anonymous, aggregate analytics (for example, which pages are visited most often). You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though signed-in features may ask you to sign in again more often.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. Ever. We share it only in the ways the marketplace requires and no further:
- With other users, as the marketplace requires — your public profile and listing content are visible to other users, and buyers and sellers see the account information needed to complete a transaction.
- With service providers who help us run the site — such as hosting, email, and analytics providers — under obligations of confidentiality.
- With a payment provider, when online payment processing is live, solely to process payments you authorize.
- When required by law, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Veil Vault, its users, or the public.
Your data is not for sale. The Vault's business is connecting dresses with their next nights — not trading on the people who wear them.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Listing content stays visible while the listing is live and for as long as needed to resolve questions about it. Orders and messages are kept as records of the marketplace's activity, and technical logs are retained for a limited period. When you delete your account, we delete the personal information tied to it, subject to any legal obligation to keep records of completed transactions.
Your rights
You can update or correct your account information at any time from your dashboard. Where the law gives you rights over your personal information — such as the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of it — you can exercise them by writing to us at the address below, and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
Children's privacy
The Vault is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, write to us at the address below and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know — for example, a notice on the site. Your continued use of the Vault after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
